In order to properly dispose of used tires one must be sure that a tire shredder is used on them. In this way an individual can be sure that the material derived from the process can be easily recycled into items that can be of further use to consumers. There are two types of shredders that can be used for this purpose. One is known as a high-speed machine while the other is called a low-speed one. The needs of the actual firm that provides the service in question is what will often dictate what machine is chosen.
The high speed shredders will have incorporated into their design a tub in which most of the action takes place. This includes the fact that the used tires are placed in the middle where they are cut into pieces through the use of a cutting device. Additional scrap from the materials in question are used in the process to help break down the rubber much faster.
Once the initial phase has been completed there is a secondary one that is used to ensure that the rubber that has been retrieved is further ground down in preparation for its reuse. The power needed during this process is quite enormous as the material in question is difficult to break down.
Water then is introduced in the next phase of the recycling process called the hammering phase. It is used along with hammers to separate the steel, beads, and wire from the rubber. Often there are magnets employed in order to remove every bit of metal that has been incorporated into the structure of the tires that have been placed inside the processing tub.
A hook shear or rotary shear shredder has been known to operate at a slower speed. The blades that are used in the shredding process often resemble hooks or knives. The kind of tire that is being recycled will often dictate the type of machine in this category that will be used. Such as the fact that many steel belted tires will need a machine with knife-like blades in order to be properly recycled.
Premature wear on any of these blades needs to be prevented through the employment of some precautionary measures. Such as the use of spacers to ensure that certain parts of the machinery stay in place and a liner to protect the rotor. This will also help to ensure a greater measure of safety for those that operate these machines as well.
There quite a few unique uses that the rubber from a recycled tire can be put to. This includes landfill, decorative landscaping, and ground cover. There are some individuals that have been known to employ them in a colored chip form to improve the look of a garden path or use them in a defunct fountain to represent the water that should have been in it.
Industrial shredders can be used to recycle the rubber that is left in a tire once its useful life has ended. In this way one can prevent the devastating effects on the environment that often arise when there is a pile of old tires laying around. This can include the chemicals that are released because of a fire or the standing water that collects inside the hollowed out areas of many of the tires.
